Log Homes offer sustainability, hypo-allergenic living solutions, durability, and incredible aesthetics. However, proper design and planning are required at the outset to achieve customer satisfaction, and to avoid future problems, heartaches, and expensive repairs. Consultations are available to architects, builders, and home owners.
Real Estate and Insurance Adjusters
Consultations are available to assess and inspect the condition of log buildings for purposes or resale, for property purchases and/or for insurance claims.
Log Home Repair Projects
Prior to beginning any project, it is important to spend the necessary time to determine the extent of weathering, aging and/or damage.

Maintenance and Repair for Log Homes
Joint Sealing (Chinking) Between Logs
Over time, all log buildings suffer from shrinkage. Air infiltration results where the logs join and problems can, and frequently do arise. Energy costs rapidly escalate. Another common hazard is contamination airborne insulation particles as well as the infestation of insects. The remedy is to seal the building with high-tech, non-toxic permanent sealants.
Repair and Replacement of
Damaged and Rotting WoodEvery log house and log building is unique. Replacement of deteriorated logs depends on the age and the location and structural placement within the building. Catching problems in the early stages is important to prevent the spreading of rot. Regardless of the extent of the damage, however, it is likely that a solution can be found.
Staining
The staining process may require preliminary cleaning to ensure proper adhesion of new coatings. In many cases, we are able to achieve an exact color match. If the exact color is no longer available, a close match is offered.
Additions to Existing Structures
We can work with your architect/designer or we can provide a unique design for your existing home project. Preliminary drawing will be provided subject to project approval.
Design for New Buildings
We can work with your architech/designer or we can provide a unique design for your new building. Preliminary drawings will be provided as required and agreed upon.
DIY Assistance
We are pleased to work with the do-it-yourself homeowner. Hourly rates will apply.
Teaching
Arrangements can be made to provide a log-building course to your students or small group. Locations and times are as per agreement. Teaching materials, log supplies, and required tools will be discussed during a consultation.
